Special election scheduled to fill last seat
February 3, 2009

Eight candidates have been verified for the ballot to fill a vacant seat on the CRIT Tribal Council in the February 13 Tribal Special Election.

The candidates seek to fill the seat of Daphne Hill-Poolaw, who was recalled in a December election.

The candidates for the seat are:

  • Willy Tahbo
  • Duncan Fisher
  • Alvin Ameelyenah
  • David Harper
  • Ray Aspa, Sr.
  • Herman TJ Laffoon
  • Edward Yava, Sr.
  • Jimmy Alcaida

The Special Election will be held on Friday, February 13. Tribal offices will be closed that day to allow all Tribal members to vote. The polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. The polling locations are:

  • DISTRICT I Tribal Administrative Center
  • DISTRICT II Headstart Valley School

The new council member will join the new Tribal Chairman, Eldred Enas, and the five other members of the Tribal Council elected in the December regular Tribal elections. The nine-person Tribal Council also includes the two incumbent council members, Dennis Welsh and Richard Armstrong.
